COOLING TOWER FOREMAN

The Foreman assists the Superintendent by providing leadership and being responsible for, although not limited to: scheduling, planning, coordinating, supervising employees, assisting in cost control and safety, consistently and fairly applying all CTE policies and procedures, proper training and productivity of crews at the worksite who erect and repairs cooling towers. The Foreman must work with the Superintendent to ensure the job is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to CTE quality standards. Specifically, the Foreman is responsible to lead Technicians to make sure tasks assigned by Superintendent are executed properly. This position may require extensive travel depending on project location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A key participant in the relationship with the employees, contractors, subcontractors, company, and clients. The Foreman has the following specific areas of responsibility:

  • Manage job in the absence of the Superintendent
  • Oversee field subcontractors
  • Read blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of the structure or fixture
  • Select lumber and other materials to be used on the assigned job
  • Repair layout, using rulers, tape measures, framing square and calipers
  • Oversee marking, cutting and assembly lines on materials using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge
  • Oversee the shaping of materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and chainsaws
  • Oversee the assembling of cut and shaped materials
  • Align mechanical equipment and perform piping
  • Assist with the erection of framework
  • Fit and install material as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Superintendent 
  • Conduct daily and weekly Safety meetings
  • Complete incident reports as necessary

REQUIREMENTS

Below are the initial requirements that you MUST meet in order to qualify for this role:

  • 7 Year Graded Background Check
  • TWIC
  • Drug Test
  • Must have reliable means of transportation to and from office
  • Cannot be afraid of heights

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years in field cooling tower construction
  • 1 – 2 years (minimum) as a Leader or Cooling Tower Technician 1 in cooling tower construction

CERTIFICATIONS | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certification in CPR and knowledge of first aid
  • Rigging, forklift, and man lift certification
  • OSHA 30
  • Ability to lead a crew of up to 12 employees, assign job tasks, and assist in the management of larger crews
  • Strong knowledge of structural, mechanical, and piping installation
  • Basic knowledge of the operation of construction tools and terminology
  • Knowledge of construction safety guidelines
  • Good working computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
